Denounce Description

Abandoning all aesthetic clichés and fashionable trends which are currently flooding the so-called metal ‘scene', Denounce aim their focus purely on creating their own brand of unrelenting, energy-driven mayhem.

Comprising of a six-string riff-laden offensive by Dayve Irving and Jamie Turton, the penetrative vocals of Greg Cole, with backup from the gut-churning thunder of bassist Leon... (read more)

Gig review - Darbex Band Quest (Metal Heat 8) @ Drayman - 14/04/08

(alan@rockmatrix.co.uk)

DENOUNCErnFISTFUL OF NOTHINGrnJON COOPERrnrnFistful of Nothing started things off and it was obvious immediately that the four members were stretching away from the prog-focused direction of their previous band Equinox. The opening track took some of the progressive elements but these were overlayed with growling vocals and powerful direct guitars. The... (read more)

Festival Review - Bloodstock Open Air 2008

(alan@rockmatrix.co.uk)

As with each passing year we were once again confronted with the biggest Bloodstock Open Air festival so far.rnrnThe lucky campers who chose to spend the opening Thursday evening at the Lava stage were treated to CONQUEST OF STEEL (7.5/10). rnrn Bradfords trad metal heroes got the festival off to a perfect start in front of a packed tent. MARSHALL LAW... (read more)

Gig review - Darbex Band Quest (Metal final) @ Drayman - 05/05/08

(alan@rockmatrix.co.uk)

The Darbex metal final got off to a crunching start thank to Violation Complex (7.5/10). Their brand of progwarped extreme metal was the perfect way to wake anyone bogged down by the increasing heat inside the venue.rnrnTrad metallers Conquest (6.5) were next, displaying a song writing ability which escapes many a contemporary act. Schizophrenia (6.5)... (read more)

Gig review: Band Quest Tier 1 Metal Final @ Red Lion - 31/05/09

(alan@rockmatrix.co.uk)

Finally after 4 months of heats, semis and todays final, Band Quest 2009 (Metal) is over.rnrnThe competition over this period has seen the bands involved put in some excellent performances, enhance their reputations (or in some cases split up) and for one particular band, be picked to play the Bloodstock festival.rnrnAt the unholy early time of around... Festival review: Red Roar Festival - 11-13/09/09

(alan@rockmatrix.co.uk)

When a group of promoters get together and plan to organise, promote and run a festival within an 8 week period, some of you would think it is time to pull out the strait-jackets! Despite this incredibly tight schedule over 100 bands and 1500 fans squeezed into the Red Lion music venue/pub in Gravesend between Friday 11th and Sunday 13th September for... (read more)

Gig review: Cutting Edge Showcase @ Underworld - 21/01/10

(alan@rockmatrix.co.uk)

After the astounding success of last years initial Cutting Edge showcase there was much anticipation for the second. The likes of Alestorm, Silent Descent and O.M.T brought the house down back in September, but now it was the turn of Ignominious Incarceration, Denounce, Snakebite, Reasonable Doubt and Into Exile.rnrnInto Exile (6.5/10) seemed to emerge... Gig review: Band Quest Kent Metal Final @ Red Lion - 30/05/10

(alan@rockmatrix.co.uk)

It was only a year ago when Snakebite stormed to the Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses Kent title with Denounce taking the overall Band Quest honours. A year can be a long time though and since then some of the local acts had split, fallen into a state of comatose or simply moved on.

While Falling Empire opened up last years final with a ferocious set of... (read more)
